You Should Have Been Here!

Welcome back to Critter Cabin!
All I have to say is
" You should have been here this weekend!"
We arrived early Saturday morning to sun and cold weather. We unloaded the truck, got the fire going inside the cabin and headed off to burn the piles!
^..^
~
Decided to get a picture of the burning before it was all done.Pat is hard at work burning the piles. It was really hard work and took us most all day to finish the job to our satisfaction. Do you remember what it looked like before, cruise down the blog and refresh your memory!

This a repeat from last weeks lunch.
I just bet that you think that I don't know what else to cook for lunch.

Looks yummy, and is tasty yummy also!

Reba was out by the fire most all day. Its, good for her to be out cruising and sniffing for strange smells.

Do you remember split ears mommy?
One of the regular deer that come everyday to see what is new.
We can remember her by the large white under her throat and white front legs.

Hello, Spilt ear! I know, you want to come home with me!
First you have to grow some horns next year.

This is a "Hairy Woodpecker"!
I had a hard time getting close to this woodpecker.
We confirmed this woodpecker with the Western Bird Book.

Now for the dinner menu!
We have a dutch oven with a surprise inside!

Lets see ~~~ we have a beef roast, potatoes, carrots in mushrooms gravy.
Oh boy, it was to die for!

This is a Varied Thrush~aka Alaska Robin to me!

The little pond is still frozen! The weather has been really cold the past week.

Now this is two large rocks!
No other rocks around the area. Do you think that this is a erratic?
How many of you know what that is?

This is a well casing. A well was drilled here, I believe it was 265 feet. No water. As a matter of fact you can hear noise coming from this at times, when the weather changes.

Now what do you think of this now!
^..^
~
It is going to make a wonderful area for a new fire pit, horseshoe pit and cooking area.
We had a great time at Critter Cabin this time. The sun was out, NO wind, had a great dinner and saw some great wildlife. We got alot of work done also.
You need to come to Critter Cabin and visit us and enjoy a great time with us!
Till we meet again.

Sun ~ Rain ~ Wind ! Oh, My ! ~ !

Off to Critter Cabin we go!
We have a lot planned for the weekend!
Clean up the piles of branches by the cabin, put some braces in the wood shed and of course rest!
Here is what we got done!
Enjoy!
^..^

This is the area that we really want to clean up. We have some plans to make a nice firepit here and some benches. Do you have any other ideas?

Well can't have a nice fire without hot dogs? No way~~ get a stick and lets get to cookin'. Nothing better than a hot dog on the fire!

Yummy~~~ Coals are just right for a nice golden hot dog!

Now did you hear the story about the Critter Cabin monster?
I did get a picture of it as it was coming out from under the cabin. I hope that this doesn't scare you from visiting us here!

OH~~~~ MY!   Run for your life!

Pat was hard at work under the cabin putting pex pipe together so that it will go to the bathroom! Now, we will have a flushable toilet and running water in the bathroom. Thank you Sweetie! The rest of the water for the cabin is the next step. It is very hard to crawl under here, as there isn't much room.

Well as you can tell, the dinner meal was cooked inside the cabin in the wood stove. We had some beef on a stick, add a few pieces of cheese, coleslaw, leftover mac and cheese warmed up in foil. It was really tasty.
The wind came up and we had to let the fire go out. Darn! I was so looking forward to cleaning up all the branches. And worst of all ~~~ no marshmallows to eat!

For all of you that want to know where we get our water.
This is our water shed!

This is huge water shed that is 20 x 60 that has 2- 1300 gallon water tanks. Gravity fed to the cabin!

Pat is going to pour some bleach in each tank. We do not use this for our drinking water, just washing and the toilet.

I believe that this was made for a sawmill. I 'm not sure what we will use it for. Probably store wood in it.

I moved the wood that was laying around the area to this shed. Hope to use it in a couple of years. Great place to keep it in the dry till we need it.

We did get alot cleaned up, still have some piles to either move or burn. Looks alot better though.

Our local turkeys that arrive each day. They are fun to watch. One will find something and run to it, then they all run.

This is the braces that we put up in the wood shed. I know that this will help out when the snow comes.

After a long day at work, Pat is resting as we finalize our weekend at Critter Cabin. We got alot done and we had alot of fun.

Now this monster doesn't look so scary after all!
We had a fun weekend, working, taking walks, talking, playing rummy and resting!
Happy Valentines Day to you my sweetie!
Till we talk again!

Let There Be LiGhT ! ~ ! ~ !

Our trip to Critter Cabin this weekend was a windy trip. The wind blew so hard that some trees blew over in the area. It was to windy to burn some of the branches and needles this trip. We did get to make a small fire on Saturday night to cook dinner and have a marshmallow.

We have 12 volt lights in all rooms at  Critter Cabin now!
This is so NICE !

Emma and Austin came to stay with us for the weekend.
After they woke up Saturday morning, the deer were here to welcome them to
Critter Cabin.  They were excited to see them and hurried out to get some picutres.

They decieded to see how close that they could get to them.
Wow they did get close!

This is the raking crew!
They worked real hard to get alot of needles and branches picked up.
Of, course they did load them into the trailer and take them away with the 4 wheeler.
They also drug alot of branches with the 4 wheeler to piles for us. I would think that it would be work, but they had fun riding the 4 wheeler I think!

On our daily walk we went to the canyon to check for firewood in that area.

Now  how can you go look over a canyon and not roll a rock down it?
After several rocks were rolled down the hill, we took off down a different trail back to the cabin.

This is our dinner ~~~ Elk steak and rice in the foil!

After dinner ~ it ~ was ~ marshmallow ~ Time !

Now who can cook a nice golden marshmallow like this ?

Yummy ~~~ Check out the look on Austins face!
Does he  think that Grandma doesn't like marshmallows ?

Game time ~ tossing cards in a box !!!
Austin thought it would be easy ~ well, he changed his mind!

Papa was the best at this game !

Emma had trouble with it too! But she had fun !

I finally got some pellets to shoot the new gun from Steve Brown!
We all got to shoot it several times!
Austin liked it!

Emma, you sure look like you know what you are doing!

Pat, do you think that you can be the best at shooting also ?

Well, Laura shot the box more times!  This gun is going to be alot of fun to shoot!

We went on a walk to the pond later in the day.
Found this oak leaf in the melted into the ice.

We had a great time at Critter Cabin this weekend.
Lots of laughs and memories made also.
I hope to get back to Critter Cabin soon and make more memories.
